for going out.

As a woman, I love getting dressed up to go out.

As a mother, the opportunity presents itself rarely.

Which is precisely why, when Mr. and I steal away for the weekend I bring one of my more formal numbers.

Since my usual accomplices are all tucked away in the non-maternity section of the closet, I opted for this newbie from Edelweiss by Sarah, which I thought I could dress up nicely with the right set of gold accessories.

I love the Grecian silhouette on this dress, the warm color-blocking, and it’s silky drape.

I suspect I’ll love it even more once I’m not accommodating a rounder belly.

In any case, it was lovely for wearing out to dinner and a sunset stroll along the water beforehand.  Sarah draws her design inspiration from the 30’s and 40’s, which is by far my favorite era, sartorially speaking.  And really otherwise as well.  It was also rather serendipitous since the elderly man playing old tunes on the clarinet and the old fashion charm of the waterfront made me feel like I was in a different time altogether.

I kept thinking a Juliet of the Guernsey variety might pop in suddenly and say hello.  She didn’t, but I’m fairly certain I spotted her…

Dress: Edelweiss by Sarah.  Shoes: Vintage.  Necklace: Forever 21. Earrings: Gift. Bracelet: Banana Republic. Clutch: Ross. Belt: Liz Claiborne.
